Susan LeCours of Barrett & Company acquires Valley Real Estate Group to form:
Barrett & Valley Associates Inc.

GRAFTON — On December 1st 2007 two of the most prominent real estate companies in Southeastern Vermont underwent an exciting transformation. Susan LeCours, broker/owner of Barrett & Company in Grafton VT bought Valley Real Estate Group from David Crawford, longtime owner and broker. Great pains have been taken to create a name and signage that incorporates the longstanding integrity of Barrett & Company with the experience, skill and diversity that Valley represents. Thus the two companies have been combined under one name:

Barrett & Valley Associates, Inc.

This acquisition combines the longstanding presence and reputation of two of the area’s most experienced real estate companies. David Crawford purchased Valley Real Estate Group in February of 1991 with one office in Springfield VT. In March of 1992 he acquired Chester Country Real Estate from Joan Morey to open a second Valley office in Chester. In 1996 he opened a third office in Bellows Falls and in 2002 bought the Clinton Street Sunoco station and moved the Springfield office to its present day location.

Susan LeCours bought Barrett & Company in January of 2005 from Judy Dickison. Bob Barrett founded the company in 1970 after retiring to Grafton, leaving a successful career running real estate companies in New York and New Jersey. Barrett & Company has enjoyed a fine reputation specializing in the sales of fine country homes but the market has become increasingly a secondary market, LeCours feels the addition of the Valley offices and their primary market influence will give the new company a larger and more diverse market share.
